Virtual machines are widely used in business networks. When installed in a virtual machine, WFilter can works in two modes of deployment:

1. The WFilter virtual machine acts as a gateway. Client devices access internet via the WFilter gateway machine. This deployment only requires correct ip configuration. We will not discuss this deployment mode in this topic.

2. The host is connected to a mirroring port of switch/router. So WFilter virtual machine shall work in pass-by deployment mode. Please notice that not all virtual solutions can support this, and further configurations are also required. We will try to cover these configuations in this topic.

In the below list, we will guide you to install WFilter in various virtual systems for pass-by deployment.
